Curtis Yarvin’s Plot Against America

I knew about Curtis Yarvin and his relationship to Peter Thiel, and I knew that he was a kind of neoliberal fascist (as all the technolibertarians are). I did not know that he is, in fact, retarded. A Pinochet-style dictatorship staffed by *exclusively* by airline pilots is something I did not foresee him putting great thought into. Despite all of this, I fully agree with Yarvin when he says that Andreessen has a really fucked up looking head. The whole “dissident” right is very weird though. Fascism is already extremely incoherent, but the popularity of technolibertarian-corporatist-nationalist-monarchist-fascism is just so bizarre. A lot of it is the “high IQ” justified reasoning, which is so cringe I can barely read about it.

In the past decade, liberalism has taken a beating from both sides of the political spectrum. Its critics to the left view its measured gradualism as incommensurate to the present’s multiple emergencies: climate change, inequality, the rise of an ethno-nationalist right. Conservatives, by contrast, paint liberalism as a cultural leviathan that has trampled traditional values underfoot.

Both of these are true.
